For Schools
Does the Program cost our school anything?
Sporting Schools programs must be provided free of charge to students. Delivery costs are met from the Sporting Schools funding your school receives from the Australian Sports Commission.
Do we need a hall or a dance floor?
No. A hall, gym, covered area or cleared classroom is enough. You will need a sound source for music.
Do students need special clothing or shoes?
No. Students take part in normal sports clothing and footwear.
Are the Trainers checked?
Yes. Every Trainer must hold a current Working with Children Check and Trainer Accreditation appropriate to the age group, and must be a current DSA member. Endorsed Providers keep a Trainer Register with DanceSport Australia.
How do we book?
All bookings are managed through OfficialsHQ. Your school submits a request and the Endorsed Provider accepts or declines it within six business days.
There is no Endorsed Provider near us. What now?
Contact the DSA office. The Program is growing and we may be able to put you in touch with a Provider willing to travel, or help a local studio become endorsed.
For Dance Studios
My studio is already an RTF. Do I have to re-apply?
No. If you are already an RTF with DSA you do not need to re-apply.
Does my studio have to be a DSA RTF to be an Endorsed Provider?
Yes. If your studio is not already an RTF you will need to apply for RTF registration and satisfy all requirements of the DSA RTF Policy. Once you are an RTF you can register as an Endorsed Provider.
Is there a cost to becoming a DSA RTF?
DSA does not, at this time, charge a fee for a studio or business to become an RTF.
What insurance do I need?
Endorsed Providers and Trainers deliver Program activities entirely at their own risk and are not covered by any ASC or DSA insurance. You must hold and maintain public liability insurance appropriate to your activities under the Program, and confirm with each school that the appropriate cover is in place.
