Barden, Brodie
Brodie Barden has been a passionate and committed member of the Dancesport community since 1997. With a career spanning over two decades, he has proudly represented Australia on the local stage in Western Australia, nationally across the country, and internationally at the highest levels.
Having spent six years living and competing overseas, Brodie gained valuable insight and experience in both the amateur and professional divisions. This global perspective has equipped him with a deep understanding of the sport's development pathways and the potential for growth within Australia.
Currently serving as a Dancesport Australia Director and on the Dancesport Western Australia board, Brodie plays an active role in the organisation and delivery of the WA Open Dandesport Championships. As a dedicated coach of competitive couples, solo dancers, and Pro/Am, he works closely with dancers of all levels and continues to advocate for solutions that address the needs of our evolving Dancesport community.
If elected, Brodie aims to collaborate with the Dancesport Australia Board to drive greater participation and experience across all levels of the sport nationwide. He is committed to supporting studios and instructors in growing their communities and believes strongly in building a sustainable future for Australian Dancesport.

My experience as a former DSA Board member and current WA State Chair prepares me for the responsibilities of the DSA National Council. I have contributed to strategic direction and grant funding for DSA/DSWA and I am committed to strengthening governance and ensuring transparency in all Board matters.

Grant Applications:
Advocate for and support the preparation of grant applications to secure funding that will expand DanceSport activities, programs and inclusive opportunities across Australia.
Pathways & Education:
Make rules, structures, and opportunities easy to access, reflecting the Board’s role in developing clear strategic pathways for growth, particularly the development of a National Schools Program.
Governance & Growth:
Drive constitution review, strengthen compliance and risk management, and develop a national schools program to broaden our base.
Child Safety Commitment
Uphold DSA’s safeguarding framework and model zero tolerance for child abuse, supporting the Board’s obligation to promote safe and inclusive participation.
Stronger Member Voice:
Ensure members shape the future of our sport while maintaining alignment with the Board’s responsibility to act in the best interests of DSA as a whole.

Skills
During my long association with DanceSport, I have developed skills through Training and Observation in Governance and Compliance, Sponsorship and Grant Funding and throughout my business life, I have gained a detailed understanding of Financial Management, Legal and Risk Management, Administration, Project Planning and Management. I have also a high-level knowledge of IT/Website (ecommerce) & Technical issues and was known in my working life as a problem solver.
Biography
Began dancing in WA in 1972 (age 15)
Returned to competitive dancing in 2012 after 30 years – still competing in three styles
Active in ParaDance (administration + international competition)
10 years on DanceSport WA Board (and am currently the State Chair)
Former Director of DanceSport Australia Ltd (4 years as Competitors’ Representative)
I am a Cricket (Life Member), played Hockey (300+ games), practiced and taught Martial arts (20 years) and have a strong belief in an Equal playing field (Fair Go for All).
