What is the Continuing Professional Development Program

The Continuing Professional Development Program applies to all Coaches and Adjudicators from the 1st January, 2011. Please make yourselves aware of your obligations below:

Dancesport Australia has developed a competency based DanceSport Coaching and Officiating Accreditation system that is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission and Diploma level in the Australian Government's National Training Framework.

It is also a competency based on DanceSport Coaching and Officiating Accreditation system that will be internationally recognised as being at the world's best practice.

All DSA Accredited Coaches and Adjudicators have a professional obligation to themselves, to their couples and students, and to the community to plan and participate in a continuing education program, tailored to meet their own needs. DSA has formalized this obligation in it's CPD requirements.

Examples of structured activities include lectures, workshops, seminars, distance learning courses, and educational Videos, DVD's and audio tapes. Service on committees can also be counted towards meeting the DSA's CPD obligations.

All activities may be completed in the space of one year. Ideally they should be spread over a 2 to 3 year period.

The requirements of these CPD Clauses will come into full effect as from 1st January, 2011 and National Council has decided that the recording of CPD units will apply retrospectively to activities taken as from 1st January, 2010.

FOR A MORE DETAILED VERSION OF THIS EXPLANATION AND THE NUMBER OF UNITS THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY WILL ACQUIRE, PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK  BELOW TO CPD.
