Who will be the next SA Sports Star of the Year?  Find out at the KPMG Celebration of SA Sport Awards which recognises the success of our sporting stars past and present on Friday, 18 November at the Entertainment Centre.

Thursday, 1 December is International Day of People with a Disability.  The day aims to encourage support for people with a disability and their dignity, rights and wellbeing.  In the lead-up to the day, some inspiring stories of people with a disability participating in sport and recreation will be up on our website.

NEWS
New department, same business.  With the recent appointment of the Hon Jay Weatherill as the SA Premier, several government departments and functions have been realigned.  The Office for Recreation and Sport will now be part of a new-look Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. This ensures a strong emphasis will remain on more and improved sport and recreation facilities and open space participation opportunities.

The 2011-12 A-League season has commenced.  Come along to one of the matches at Hindmarsh Stadium and support the Reds!

ARE YOU A COACH, OFFICIAL OR VOLUNTEER LOOKING FOR FUNDING?
The time you give to your sport or active recreation club is valued.

You or others at your club may be eligible for financial support of up to $1,500 to attend courses and become better qualified and skilled in your chosen area.

Guidelines and application forms for the 2012 Wendy Ey Memorial Scholarships for Women, Coaching, Officiating and Volunteer Scholarships are available from our website.

SASI athletes are continuing to make their mark in the lead up to London.  Just this week, SASI scholarship-holders Holly Evans and Bianca Greenshields were included in the Hockeyroos Olympic Training Squad.
