Under legislation - specifically the Australian Sports Ant-Doping Authority Act 2006 and its regulations – and the World Anti-Doping Code, the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) requires that DanceSport Australia (DSA) shall establish rules requiring all Athletes and each Athlete Support Personnel who participates as coach, trainer, manager, team staff, official, medical or paramedical personnel in a Competition or activity authorised or organised by the DanceSport Australia or one of its member organisations to agree to be bound by thisAnti-Doping Policy and to submit the results management authority to the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) responsible under the Code as a condition of such participation. All members of DanceSport Australia, via the process of paying their annual membership subscription, agree to be bound by this anti-doping policy.

In conjunction with ASADA, DanceSport Australia has revised its existing rules, and this revision is contained in the formal DSA policy – adopted by DSA National Council on 11th December, 2014 and  identified as CR002.1 DanceSport Australia Anti-Doping Policy which is available by accessing the link below, and via this web site at the tabs “About DanceSport”, then “Other Competition Rules” and then “Anti-Doping Policy (Effective 1st January, 2015)”.

Important Advice to all DSA Members - Athletes and Athlete Support Personnel -

  • ·You are responsible for knowing what the anti-doping rule violations are.
  • ·You must find out which substances and methods are prohibited.
  • ·Ignorance is no excuse.
  • ·You must be aware of the rules in this Anti-Doping Policy.
  • ·This Anti-Doping Policy adopts the strict liability principle.
  • ·Athletes are responsible for anything found in their system.
  • ·You must be aware of the sanctions that could be applied to you in this Anti-Doping Policy.

Also importantly, Athletes and Athlete Support Personnel must –

-        take responsibility, in the context of anti-doping, for what they ingest and use.

-        inform medical personnel of their obligation not to Use Prohibited Substances and Prohibited Methods and to take responsibility to makesure that any medical treatment received does not violate this Anti-Doping Policy.

Should there be any questions, I would be very pleased to respond.

Subject: 2014 Prohibited List Released [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Good afternoon

Please be advised that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has released the 2014 Prohibited List, which will come into effect on 1January 2014.

The Prohibited List is the international standard that outlines the substances and methods that are prohibited in sport. It is updated annually following an extensive consultation process facilitated by WADA.

For your convenience please find attached to this email a summary of the modifications prepared by WADA. WADA has also published this on their website along with the full List and details on the 2014 monitoring program.

Most changes seek to provide greater clarity to the List, with the majority of amendments being of a technical nature, including re-categorising and improving the terminology of existing substances and methods.

ASADA will be working closely with stakeholders to ensure athletes, support personnel and sporting organisations are ready for the change on 1 January 2014.

We will be sending a communications kit to anti-doping contact officers of sports which we are encouraging them to pass on to their state affiliates, athletes, team managers, medical officials and other support personnel. We will also be pushing information directly to athletes and support personnel through our own communication channels including the ASADA website, and our Twitter andFacebookandpages.

In addition, our education and information resources will be updated by 1 January 2014 to ensure they reflect the new List, and the Check your substances tool will be updated on 20 December 2013.

More information about the List and anti-doping in general can also be found on our:

DanceSport Australia has one couple representing Australia in the DanceSport events of The World Games 2013 Cali in Columbia, South America: Laurence Moldavsky - Nicole Prosser will compete in Latin.

Laurence Moldavsky - Nicole Prosser, AUS

Laurence has been competing in Latin American since the tender age of six. He represented Australia in two World Dancesport Championships: the Junior World Ten Dance in the Czech Republic and the World Latin in Lithuania, both held in 2007. He was also the winner of "Strictly Dancing" Series 3 on the ABC network.

Nicole has over a decade of experience in many different forms of dance. She has studied dance at Wesley Institute, virtually all styles: Latin American, Jazz, HipHop, Contemporary and Classical Ballet.
“My Latin dancing has grown immensely through my academic work,” states Nicole. “Studying Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary, something I’ve never done before Wesley Institute, as well as other styles, has allowed me to explore the different ways in which I can execute not only a movement, but understand the inner feeling and spirit that influences everything we do in dance."

Our friends at DanceScore have asked that we publicise their results "upload" policy so that DSA members/competitors can feel confident about how the results of competitions - where the DanceScore system is in use - are managed and published.

Steve Edwards - CEO - DSA

DanceScore Data Upload Policy

Policy

All Competitions where the DanceScore Scrutineering Team is contracted to Scrutineer, all Scrutineering sheets will be automatically placed on the internet. Recall Notices will be loaded immediately after each Round. Detailed Adjudicator Marks will be uploaded immediately after the presentation of prizes at the end of the Competition day.

Events that extend over a period of days will be handled on a case by case basis so that no Competitors are disadvantaged by the publication of Adjudicator Marks.

At Competitions where an internet connection is not available the detailed Adjudicator Marks will be uploaded within 24 hours of the close of the Competition.

Intent of Policy

To ensure all Competition Results are free from errors and available online for all interested persons.

Background

From time to time errors and changes occur to Competition Results. These can be, but is not restricted to, such reasons as corrupt files or the Competition Organiser or Chairman changing a result due to a disqualification. There has also been delays in Results being uploaded to the internet which has caused issues for Competition Organisers.

As the DanceScore Scrutineering Team is directly responsible for Competition Results it is required that they have direct access to the FTP. This policy will directly address those issues.

Implementation of the Policy

To fix any alterations or potential delay in getting data to the internet all required files will be loaded directly to the DanceScore management URL. Competition Organisers are required to draw all data directly from this site. Technical assistance will be given free of charge to assist Competition Organisers in displaying this data on their websites.

This means that any required alteration to the Scrutineers Sheets will be immediately propagated to all sites drawing the data thus ensuring consistency.

Note

This policy only concerns Competitions where the DanceScore Scrutineering Team has been directly contracted to Scrutineer. DanceScore does not restrict in any way those who wish to download the free Scrutineering software from our site and use it for their Competitions provided they adhere to the copyright conditions.
